In Arizona, a Phoenix dentist carries a load of responsibility in upholding the public’s dental health because, as reported by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Arizonans have a higher rate of oral disease than the national average. There are nine specialties in dentistry, and for each specialty, Phoenix dentists must undergo additional schooling to safeguard the quality of dental care in Arizona.

Specialties outside of general dentistry require experience and extensive training to protect patients’ safety and health. Some of the procedures are difficult to perform and necessitate expert hands.

Endodontics is one of those specialties that require expert handling. It involves treatment of diseases that affect the dental pulp and periradicular tissues. Apicoectomy or root canal surgery is an example of an endodontic operation, where the dentist cuts gum away to be able to remove the infected tissue.

Periodontics also requires expertise, where surgical procedures are performed to treat infections affecting the gum tissue. While some periodontic operations aim to cure gum disease by treatments like regeneration of lost bone, some periodontic surgical procedures are cosmetic in nature. To enhance the aesthetic of teeth, patients may seek crown lengthening and soft tissue grafts.

One of the most complex dental specialties is oral and maxillofacial surgery. It covers dental implants, reconstructive surgery and even cleft lip surgery, among others. Some operations are as complicated as restructuring the entire jaw bone. To gain confidence about one’s oral surgeon, it is best if the Phoenix dentist is a member of a trusted society of oral surgeons such as the Phoenix Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

In choosing among the Phoenix dentists available in Arizona, it is best to research about the background of the specialist in such trusted lists as those provided by the Arizona Dental Association. These specialists can help curb the alarming rate of oral disease incidence in the area.

Great Dentist

Question by bharat s: Great Dentist?
A man and a woman met at a bar. They started getting along really well and they decide to go to her place for a drink.

Some drinks later, the guy took off his shirt and washed his hands. He
then took off his socks and washed his hands.

The woman looked at him and said, “You must be a dentist.”

Flabbergasted, the guy responded, “Why yes! That’s amazing; how did you know that?”

The woman replied, “Real easy. You keep washing your hands.”

One thing leads to another, and they go to bed.

After the lovemaking, the woman remarked, “You must be a GREAT dentist!”

The doctor was very surprised, and said, “Yes! Yes! I sure am a great dentist. Wow! You amaze me! And how did you know THAT sweetheart?”

The woman says: “Easy. I didn’t feel a thing.”

The Importance Of The Medical

The Importance of the Medical History in Getting Dental Implants

Giving the medical history to the attending dentist is one of the most important things that a patient can do. The standard procedures require that this be done in order to minimize the risks that are associated with the surgery.

There are some health problems that can affect the outcome or techniques utilized in getting dental implants. For example, a person with diabetes is more at risk because the body’s ability to heal slows down if the blood sugar is high. The sugar levels need to be controlled before they undergo any kind of procedure.

When filling out the medical history chart, make sure that it is taken seriously. Carefully describe the physical condition of a person by listing down illnesses or allergies. The medications that are currently being taken also need to be filled out. All of these function as important details that can clue the dentist in on how to properly proceed with the dental implants.

The medical history chart can be quite daunting, if not embarrassing for some people. This is why it is important to go to a dental office that can be trusted. The ability to have open lines of communication is essential. Even the most minor of details may not seem so little when in light of getting dental implants. One of these minor details that need to be considered is an allergy to latex. It can be quite difficult for people who are allergic to undergo surgery because the dental team regularly wears latex gloves. An allergy to jewelry is also a major point to consider. Some of the metals used in dental instruments are made use from the metals used in costume jewelry. Inform the dental team prior to the dental implants so they can adequately prepare alternatives. Also, let them know the medications that can be taken in case of an allergy attack.

How sensitive the gag reflex is affects how the dental implants procedure will go. Tell the dentist if there is a tendency to gag. The dentist can make changes to the techniques used to make the patient feel more comfortable.

You might have to talk to a psychiatrist to treat you of your fear of Dentists.

Another way is for the Dentist to place you under general anesthesia, and have him do all necessary treatment. You won’t feel a thing. To make you feel even better, you can have someone you trust take you along.

Soothing music also helps.
