May 3 – The Paleface (1948)
In this western comedy, Bob Hope plays a cowardly dentist who is duped by Calamity Jane (Jane Russell) into helping her capture some dangerous outlaws. This popular film inspired a sequel (Son of Paleface) and its theme song, “Buttons and Bows” won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

May 10 – She Done Him Wrong (1933)
A glamorous saloon singer (Mae West) romantically pursues a sober missionary (Cary Grant) in this ribald comedy classic. May 31 – To Be or Not To Be (1942)
In occupied Poland during the Second World War a theatrical troupe employ their acting skills to catch a German spy in this terrific comedy written and directed by Ernst Lubitsch. Jack Benny and Carol Lombard star along with Robert Stack, Sig Ruman, and Lionel Atwill. NOTE: This was Carole Lombard’s last film. She died in a plane crash during a war bond tour before its theatrical release.
